Taking a scenic drive on Easter Sunday

going to the swamp and looking for Alligator’s was on our agenda … we were so happy to have seen one. WOW! – the swamp was almost dried out… we need water bad!…. So after climbing back into the truck, we made a u-turn and lo and behold…. saw about 15 gators!!!! So of course that cause for a good laugh for being so excited over the one that was hiding out and we barely could make it out….

can you all see the gator WAY back there?

ok - this one's WAY closer :)

after that, we went to a little state park and saw WILD horses (did you know Florida had and HAS had a wild herd of horses AND Bison’s???? – NEITHER did I???!!!) – so anyhow, we didn’t see the Bison’s/Buffalo’s but we did see some of the horses, but they were too far away to take a picture off….

Happy Easter

Easter is here and therefor coloring eggs with the kids is in the forecast!  How fun :) . Luckily the weather was good enough to have the whole expedition outside, as tons of glitter and coloring bowls were involved… we did end up getting some color on the eggs as well (… and the clothes and the hands and the towels and ….)

…. we once again invited Bonnie and Rick to come over and have Brunch with us – we usually have breakfast with our dear neighbors every Sunday, but decided to have Easter breakfast/brunch at home…. so we not only ate the kids’ chocolate from their Easter baskets, but also had fresh made bread, Mimosa’s, EGG’s and SWISS cheese!

yum, yum, yum!

yum, yum, yum!

all mixed up!

Well, my posts are all mixed up again – ugh. Sorry…. I don’t know why I try to tell everything backwards, but here it is… our company has been here almost for a week already. Time just goes by so fast! Last Friday, Good Friday, it was my sister-in-law’s birthday – So we had Bonnie and Rick over to help us celebrate Sandy’s birthday.

BBQ-ing before Memorial Day :)

BBQ-ing before Memorial Day :)

Patrick barbecued ribs, chicken, a roast and some sausages to suit everyone’s taste and we had plenty salad and scalloped potatoes to go with it… after the fabulous dinner and plenty of chit-chat, we relocated into the house to have dessert (chocolate and bourbon cake) – YUMMY!

Rain, Rain, Rain and Tornado….

after a busy day on Monday and trying to get caught up from the rather lazy Easter Weekend, we were ‘forced’ to take yet another day ‘off’ as it wasn’t only raining slightly, but CATS and DOGS (ever wondery where that expression came from?) – so we went with our company to Hastings to the local Potato Chip “factory” for a small tour of the makings of chips and then a lunch

 - and it was POURING… perfect day to look at it from inside out. We had a wonderful time, till we got a phone call that we had several trees down at the farm and lots of work was awaiting us when we were making it home…. but lucky us, all the horses were fine and the neighbors have been checking on them to make sure! – And sure enough, the closer we got to our place, the more fallen trees we’ve encountered and limbs down EVERYWHERE…. we did make it into our driveway ok, however we’ve had a huge tree limb crash down on our drive way fence…. coming up to the house, we had a huge tree that hit one of the paddocks (Ceena’s paddock) and crashed the big fence and 3 cross fences. Neither Misty nor Ceena were faced with the tragedy, they just nibbled on the leaves of the tree laying in their paddock. Since they’ve been next to each other for so long, we just turned them out together in the big pasture where we had the cows and  they were happy with their outcome of the day. We were happy that nothing ’serious’ happened and started the clean up procedure after finishing barn chorse. Tomorow is another day…. we have heard in the local news that we got hit by a tornado, but were lucky enough to only get the outskirts of the hit….

Happy Monday to everyone….

I got this today in an e-mail from a friend (Thanks Kathie) and thought it was so funny, that I had to post it :)

LADY’S YEARLY EXAM
I went to the doctor for my yearly physical.
The nurse started with certain basics.
“How much do you weigh?” she asked.
“135,” I said.
The nurse put me on the scale.
It turns out my weight is 180.
The nurse asked, “Your height?”
“5 foot 4,” I said.
The nurse checked and saw that I only measure 5′2″
She then took my blood pressure and told me that it is very high.
“Of course it’s high!” I screamed, ‘When I came in here I was tall and slender!
Now I’m short and fat!”
She put me on Prozac.
What a bitch.

after a week of Computer Hassles….

We are finally ending this week with the nicest weather (dry, sunny and warm!) and are getting caught up with yard and barn work to welcome our next company from Switzerland! Patrick’s sister and her husband and two girls are coming to visit us for a month – WOW. I haven’t seen the girls in about 7 years – how exciting. Lara, the older of the two is just as big a horse lover as Patrick and I. So we hope that we will have lots of opportunities to do horsey-stuff. We are still in the middle of foaling season. Finally are breeding back some mares and some of them already have gone home. Lutz and Vinny, our own two colts are lookging good and growing as fast as the weeds out in the fields. The warm weather and the rain we’ve had this past week, certainly is making things grow. And of course, the weeks is always the first thing to blossom. We are expecting another cold front – only two days (well, nights) where we hope that it doesn’t quite dip down to freezing point, as so many plants have been replanted, or cut back already! Well, I will try to post some pictures in my next post! Since my e-mail got hacked into and everything has gotten changed to the new address, I should be able to post again a little bit more frequently!

Wow – how ’bout that, huh?

Hello EVERYBODY – I am terribly sorry about the inconveniences, a security breach I just learned about,  might have caused some of you. Someone tapped into my longtime and trusted Kiowa71 account and is sending out letters to all my contacts, begging for money!!!

Furthermore they also have changed my password AND changed my security question so I can no longer tap into my own account!!! This is a HOAX, ONLY my account is affected! It is not a virus that is spread through e-mail – SOMEONE has hacked into my account and used my contacts to send those letters – PLEASE, discontinue the use of my Kiowa71 address immediately. I have reported it to Microsoft and they will look into this and hopefully find the culprits (I doubt it) – thank you for your understanding
