Hello once again! We’ve had a wonderful, but busy weekend and went head on into the new week! What a wonderful day it was today though! A little on the COLD side for my taste, but I’m sure Ginger loved it
– and I do not want to hear any different from ANYBODY that always told me that they can not wait for it to cool off… now you got your wishes! Well the ponies are wrapped up in blankets again and we now have our own BLUES BROTHERS band practicing out on the pasture….! AND… guess what… WIDGET fit in Smarty’s winter rug! She has GOT to be growing
Happy Monday to everyone!
Raining…
it’s raining here today – yesterday it was supposed to start, but didn’t start till later in the evening – today it was doging rain drops, trying to work the horses. But that’s ok – we have the weekend to catch up on missed work outs. JoEllen will be coming up one more time to work her horse and help me with my training horses before the clinic. We certainly will miss her visits and her help once she is taking Shooter home with her! The clinic is coming up in giant steps and I hear everybody is excited.
We got another horse in today – a 6yo cutting stallion that needs to be tuned up. Let’s see what he can do! – sounds fun…. we’ll find out!
Here are some pics….
… we took over the last weekend – and I try to download some video clips… I had to diminish the quality quite a bit in order to download it all in a reasonable amount of time …
I’ll just keep playing with it and am sure one of these days I will have it all figured out … hope rests eternal in the heart of the fool!
Is it Monday already?
Where did the weekend go? Oh my – I can’t believe it – I have been so lazy and not getting everybody caught up on what is going on at Cambridge Star Farm – must have been not much worth writing about!
Friday was just about as quiet as Thursday…. Saturday morning was pretty busy with a lesson with Daphne and Jeannie. After the lesson Jeannie and I went to visit Al who’s home in Reddick now. He seems to be doing quite well under the circumstances… as soon as we got home Joey pulled in – she was ready to tackle some horses…. so we did! But that is in another note… we made a bunch of clips, so hopefully we can put a link to it on the blog….
Well, it’s dinner time already – so I’ll be back with more news and the movie clips
Thursday – what a quiet day
Today is Thursday and probably the quietest day of the week. Poco and Chubby got turned out onto the new big pasture- they are in hog heaven for sure! I wonder if they’ll show up on the gate tomorrow or if we’ll have to go and catch them out in the field. Widget got turned out onto Chubby and Pocos old field – so she thinks she died and went to heaven as well!!! So lots of happy horses around here….
company
It’ll be a busy Winter here at Cambridge Star Farm. We’ll be welcoming my cousin Guido and his girlfriend Manuela from Switzerland in November (2nd through 3rd to be exact).
The same evening Patrick will be making the trip to Orlando to pick up two more Swiss visitors… Susanne Koller aka Twinkletoes and Jenny Commons, my webmaster…. check out the website www.thebasichandle.com. Then of course on the 4th of November, Pat Wyse will be flying in to Gainesville and we’ll get ready for our yearly Community Clinic…
After the storm has ceased a bit, Patrick and I get ready for our Texas trip (checking our the horse market again). After New Year’s we’ll once again welcome Swiss friends and relatives. My godson Philipp will be here with his family …. you can see, it never gets boring at the Gruninger’s!
It is definitely become Fall here in Florida… however the FL Beach Sunflowers are still in full bloom… some horses are trying to hair up already???? Wonder if they know something we don’t? I hope that doesn’t mean we are in for a cold Winter!
fencing project
We decided to dismantle the infield fence and put up a nice 4 strand crossfence. Since we are allowed to ride up on the hill, there will be still plenty of room to cool out our horses – just not around the track anymore…. the ‘track’ is now officially closed
… we even sawed the quarter poles in half and used them for corner posts!
